Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet neighborhood in The West Island of Montreal is what you might call a "sleepy" area. Many people unfamiliar with the word frequently think that it's an island that's west of Montreal However, in reality the West Island is home to every aspect of the city of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel's hometown is often cited, however her short visit to the West Island did not last long. Brugel was raised in Courtice close to Oshawa, Ontario. Early ambitions were to become a dancer. But, a growing rate increased her height and she outgrew all of the dance partners she had. In an article published in the Toronto Star she admitted In heels, I'm 6 feet one inch. Once I was bigger than any male partner and stopped dancing, I quit. Former dancers often turn into acting. In the instance of Brugel, it was a suggestion from her high school teacher in drama. It was her teacher who advised her to audition as Anne in their annual school production. She was able to audition and be cast as Anne of Green Gables. She was given the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to go to York University's Theatre Program and graduated in 2000 with a degree of Bachelor's in Fine Arts. In the past 20 years, Brugel's work been seen on the small and big screen. The most notable was her fame when she was offered the character of Rita on the award-winning TV series The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian actress in the season 1 and was only seen occasionally.
