Alessia Cara

In 2015 at 19 she released her single for her debut album Here. It received a lot of praise as well from critics and listeners. It reached number 19 on both the Canadian Hot 100 and Billboard Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone named the smash one of the best Songs of the year. This year she dropped her debut album Know It All with the third track Scars to Your Beautiful being among the five original tracks which reached the top of Billboard charts including Billboard Hot 100 and the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 as well as the Billboard Hot 100. It was unique in that many people related to the interviews she gave with The Rap-Up crew about how she struggled to find love and accept herself. Cara is well-known for her ability to incorporate songs about mental health, kindness and self-love in her songs. The music she sings is reflective of her own struggles to deal with depression and insomnia. In an interview with Reuters, she said that her album was "half chaotic" and "half completed". She found growth through therapy and she encourages others to seek assistance if needed. Alessia Cara was born to Italian parents on the 11th of July 1996. The guitar was gifted to her by her parents after she turned 10 and this ignited her passion for the music. In the age of 13, she started covering songs she loved on YouTube to demonstrate to the public that she had the talent to be a singer and could not resist the opportunity to establish a career as a musician. One of her covers, Sweater Weather, was the one that got her attention. EP Entertainment gave her the chance to write and record her own tracks.
